This exhibition was the first large-scale retrospective of Yves Klein in Japan, presenting works from his earliest experiments as a monochrome painter in 1955 through to the works created before his untimely death in 1962.
Comprising 74 works and archival materials, the exhibition was organized into ten sections and provided a comprehensive overview of Klein’s artistic practice. The exhibition included his early monochrome paintings, works in International Klein Blue (IKB), Sea-Sponge Reliefs, Anthropometries, Fire Paintings created with a gas burner, Cosmogonies that recorded traces of natural phenomena, Planetary Reliefs, Human Reliefs, sculptures, as well as performances and conceptual works.
La La RE (1958), exhibited in this exhibition, is now in the collection of the Sezon Museum of Modern Art.
