This exhibition offered a comprehensive survey of the work of Alexander Calder, who is internationally renowned for his pioneering mobiles—the first sculptures to incorporate movement—and his stabiles, monumental stationary sculptures characterized by sweeping curves and planes that often function as public art.Featuring 142 works, including mobiles, bronze sculptures, wood carvings, drawings, and jewelry, the exhibition highlighted the remarkable diversity of Calder’s artistic practice.
The Sezon Museum of Modern Art collection includes Calder’s mobile Rusty Bottle (1936).
