This exhibition was the first retrospective of Pierre Soulages in Japan, introducing 45 works that traced the development of one of France’s most distinguished abstract painters. The exhibition ranged from his early works on paper made with walnut stain in 1947 to paintings in oil and acrylic produced through 1983, offering a broad overview of his artistic career.
The Sezon Museum of Modern Art holds Peinture, Janvier 7, 1983 (1983), which was included in the exhibition.
