Pop Art Spirits
Masterpieces from the Ludwig Collection
This exhibition centred on one of the world’s foremost collections of Pop Art, held by the Museum Ludwig, and featured approximately 100 works by seventeen British and American artists. The exhibition focused primarily on works from the 1950s and 1960s, when Pop Art reached its height, and included paintings, sculptures, prints, and drawings.
The exhibition was a natural extension of the Museum’s long-standing engagement with postwar American art, dating back to the Seibu Museum of Art and including exhibitions such as Jasper Johns (1978) and Roy Lichtenstein (1983).
Among the works exhibited was Light Bulb (1969) by Jasper Johns. Works by Johns are held in the collection of the Sezon Museum of Modern Art.
