This exhibition was conceived as an exploration of the processes of creation and learning in painting, taking the concept of the “lesson” in music as its point of departure. The participating artists reconsidered their own creative processes and methodologies as forms of “lessons,” while also selecting a work from the collection of the Sezon Museum of Modern Art that served as a model or point of reference for their practice and reflecting on its significance. By focusing on the sustained inquiry and practice underlying artistic production, the exhibition offered an opportunity to reconsider the possibilities of painting.
