Art Today 1989
Makiko Ikeda, Hotaro Koyama, Sirai Miho, Noriyuki Tanaka
This exhibition was conceived as an exploration of the possibility of a “theme-less exhibition.” It described the project as an attempt to avoid emphasizing commonalities among the participating artists or interpreting their works through a predetermined theme, instead positioning the exhibition as a space in which relationships between the works could emerge autonomously through what it termed a “high degree of indifference.”
Floor Board ’89 (1989) by Makiko Ikeda, which was exhibited in the exhibition, is now in the collection of the Sezon Museum of Modern Art.
