Localization and Transference refers to understanding meaning not through content itself, but through relationships of position and distance. Here, the words “THIS” and “THAT” are used to visually express a sense of proximity, distance, and movement. Because “THIS” refers to something near and “THAT” to something farther away, the size and placement of the words can create a perception of depth and spatial distance.
By contrast, elements such as a RULER, which quantify distance numerically, can diminish this perceptual effect. By focusing not on the objects themselves but on the relationships between positions and distances, we come to see that meaning arises not only from words, but also from the spatial relationships between them.
