Special Event Hosted by the Sezon Museum of Modern Art Lecture in Japan by American Architectural Critic Aaron Betsky Commemorating the Publication of “DON’T BUILD, REBUILD”

2025.06.06EVENT

The Sezon Museum of Modern Art is honored to welcome Aaron Betsky, one of the world’s leading architectural critics, for a special event: the “DON’T BUILD, REBUILD” Publication Commemorative Lecture in Japan.

Aaron Betsky is an American architectural critic, curator, educator, and writer, internationally recognized for his influential thought in the fields of architecture and design. He continues to explore the meaning of architecture within broader cultural and social contexts—beyond its physical construction. His perspective, which emphasizes narrative and imagination while reexamining society and culture through architecture, has had a far-reaching impact not only on the contemporary architectural field but also on a wide audience interested in culture and society at large.

As a cultural event hosted by the Sezon Museum of Modern Art—located in Karuizawa and housed in a museum building designed by architect Kikutake Kiyonori—we invite you to take part in this rare opportunity to attend Betsky’s special lecture during his visit to Japan.
